Authentic Jamaican Styled Goat Soup ‘Mannish Water’

INGREDIENTS

 

✓ 1 pack Spicy Hill Farms Ram Goat Soup

✓ 10 – 12 cups of water

Optional Additions if adding meat and food:

✓ 2 pounds of chopped goat meat (head, foot, tripe) cut to bite size

✓ 1 tablespoon minced garlic

✓ 2 teaspoons Spicy Hill Farms Dried Thyme Leaves 

✓ 1 teaspoon black pepper

✓ 1 teaspoon Spicy Hill Farms Scotch Bonnet Pepper

✓ 3 scallions, sliced 

✓ 1 teaspoon pimento berries

✓ 2 unpeeled sliced green bananas

✓ 2 medium carrots, sliced

✓ 1 pound potatoes, peeled and cubed 

✓ 1 pound of yellow yam, peeled and cubed

✓ 1 tablespoon salt

DIRECTIONS

 

Special equipment: a pressure cooker

Total Time: 1 hr

Yield: 9 to 10 servings

STEP 1:

Add the goat meat, 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon pimento berries and 5 cups water to a pressure cooker. Cook on high pressure for 40 minutes. 

Step 2:

Add 5 cups water, 1 pack Ram Goat Soup, 2 green bananas, 2 medium carrots, sliced, 1 pound potatoes, 1 pound of yellow yam. Cook for another 10 minutes.

Step 3:

Add the scallions, black pepper, scotch bonnet pepper, thyme and let simmer for 10 minutes.

STEP 4

Taste for flavour. Add more salt and black pepper if desired.
